I’ve been asked what kind of “diet” I follow or recommend—vegetarian? Vegan? Low-carb? Gluten-free? Although I don’t think people should eat according to a label, for the record, I eat a plant-based diet. I try to eat a variety of veggies and fruit every day, and I always choose whole grains. I don’t like red meat, so I don’t eat it. I avoid foods with added sugars (chocolate is exempt from this rule, however). I don’t consume foods or drinks with artificial sweeteners or preservatives—chemicals don’t belong in food. Most of my recipes are sweetened with fruit or small amounts of natural sweeteners, such as stevia, honey and maple syrup. Feel free to substitute and modify ingredients to your liking, but aim to keep your sugar intake as low as possible. Your taste buds will soon adjust!
